We are excited to again offer free home efficiency services for qualified residents on Kauai this fall in partnership with Kaua’i Island Utility Cooperative (KIUC), County of Kaua’i, and Kanu Hawaii. The service will include a free home energy audit along with free installations of eco-upgrades, including new LED lighting, high-efficiency water fixtures and advanced power strips that save electricity and protect electronics.
We first provided this free program in 2016, and it was well-received. 1,329 free fixtures were installed in 66 homes on Kaua’i for elderly and income-qualified families.
“Continuing our partnership with the county will benefit our community and provide our members with opportunities to improve energy efficiency in their homes and help them to reduce their bills,” KIUC President and CEO David Bissell said in a statement.
“This partnership helps local families to reduce the cost of energy in their homes, and helps our island become more sustainable at the same time,” Kauai Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr. said in a statement. “We are thankful to again offer this program in partnership with KIUC and Pono Home.”
Funding is limited and must be used by the end of 2018, so residents are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible. To apply for the program, Garden Isle residents have to complete a survey about their current home, energy costs and income level. The survey is available online at ponohome.com/kauai or can be picked up at KIUC during normal business hours. For questions, please contact Pono Home at (844) GO-PONO-1 Ext. 1 or info@ponohome.com.
